Well brewed up a Pilsner this morning using Saphir(a Hallertaur derivitive) kept it simple:Type: All Grain Date: 3/21/2011 Batch Size: 5.00 gal Brewer: Chris Cavanaugh Boil Size: 6.00 gal Asst Brewer: Boil Time: 60 min Brewhouse Efficiency: 86.00 Taste Notes: Ingredients Amount Item Type % or IBU 7.50 lb Pilsner (1.8 SRM) Grain 100.00 % 2.00 oz Saphir [3.70 %] (60 min) Hops 27.4 IBU 2.00 oz Saphir [3.70 %] (20 min) Hops 16.6 IBU 1 Pkgs Bohemian Lager (Wyeast Labs #2124) [Starter 300 ml] Yeast-Lager Beer Profile Est Original Gravity: 1.048 SGMeasured Original Gravity: 1.048 SG Est Final Gravity: 1.013 SGEstimated Alcohol by Vol: 4.47 % Bitterness: 44.0 IBU Calories: 208 cal/pint Est Color: 2.9 SRM

Looks good Chris. I will be interested to hear your feedback and opinion of the Saphir hops. I justed used them for flavor and aroma in a Saison with some Belgian yeast. I like Saphir hops myself. Cheers and hope the ferment goes well.Mike

Thanks Mike, I've only had Saphir once and that was as a dryhop in a cask of a Citrus based APA. The dry hop came through floral with a little citrus, I've been wanting to use them like this since so here we go.
